Terje Refstie, Cand.agric., prof

Senior Scientific Advisor

Terje Refstie has been with Akvaforsk Genetics since 2000. Terje held the position as project coordinator until 2010, and is now employed as Senior Scientific Advisor.

Terje graduated from the Agricultural University of Norway at Ås. He worked with genetic research and applied genetics improvement programs in aquaculture field for many years from the early seventies. Mr. Refstie has wide experience in serving different selective breeding programs within multiple aquaculture species in avarious countries. He played an active role in organizating and developing selective breeding programs on Atlantic salmon in Norway, which has been crucial for the success of developing efficient and sustainable salmon farming in Norway.

During his carrier Terje has held different positions at the Institute of Aquaculture Research from 1972. His work included research, teaching and advising bachelor, master and PhD students. During that time, he worked for many years as adjunct professor in Aquaculture at university of NTNU in Trondheim.

Terje Refstie has authored and co-authored more than 75 scientific publications in aquaculture breeding, ten book chapters and numerous articles in Norwegian and international trade journals.
